Pilgrims Pre-Preparatory School is a co-educational, independent day school for children aged 3–8 years. The Little Pilgrims unit caters for children from the age of 3 months–3 years. The school is part of the Harpur Trust family. It was built in Brickhill, Bedford on the site of the former (unrelated) Pilgrim School and thus retains in its name the reference to Bedford’s most famous citizen: John Bunyan, author of the The Pilgrim's Progress.
The school building, which opened in January 2000, was designed by the winners of a national competition, Hampshire County Architects. The nursery is within the main school complex. The school aims to prepare all the pupils for entry to the main Harpur Trust Schools: Bedford School, Bedford High School, Dame Alice Harpur School and Bedford Modern School.
